Grahan: Eclipses & Sutak
Solar and lunar eclipses for New Delhi, with local timings and Sutak.
About Grahan and Sutak
An eclipse is observed (and its rules followed) only where it can actually be seen. Times here are calculated for your city; an eclipse that happens while the Sun or Moon is below your horizon is listed as not visible and has no Sutak.
Sutak is the inauspicious period before an eclipse: traditionally 9 hours (3 prahar) before a lunar eclipse and 12 hours (4 prahar) before a solar eclipse, lasting until the eclipse ends. Many families relax it for children, the elderly and the unwell.
